The first Betsy Taylor, Vampire Queen novel.
It's been a hell of a week for Betsy Taylor. First, she loses her job. Then, she's killed in a car accident. But what really bites (besides waking up in the morgue dressed in a pink suit and cheap shoes courtesy of her stepmother) is that she can't seem to stay dead. Every night she rises, with a horrible craving for blood.
And she's not taking too well to a liquid diet. Worst of all, Betsy's new friends have some silly idea that she's the prophesied vampire queen.

In the first in Davidson's humorous vampire series, Betsy loses her job and is run down by an SUV, only to wake up and discover she has become queen of the vampires. Her adventures have only begun. Soon she is kidnapped by 500-year-old Nostro, who tries to enforce a shotgun wedding. Nancy Wu captures Betsy's disbelief of her new status as she frolics with the undead and various other characters. Humor is the linchpin of this paranormal romance as Betsy learns all the secrets of being a vampire and ruling the host of crazy characters that Davidson has created. Hang on for a fun-filled look at the romantic lives of the undead. M.B.K. (c) AudioFile 2007, Portland, Maine

Betsy was an ordinary, shoe-obsessed executive secretary when her untimely death turned out to be unusually lively. Even she was concerned over the disturbance in the natural order of things, but you cant keep a good shoe obsession down. In fact, death hasnt changed Betsy much, and the vampire community has taken unhappy notice. Nancy Wu captures Betsys internal conflicts perfectly; she infuses Betsys dialog with emotions only implied by the words, making Betsy richer, fuller, and funnier. Though Wu cant quite capture the vampire Sinclairs sexiness, she does his arrogance proud. This introduction to Betsy and her undeath will garner countless new fansand deservedly so.Jodi L.
