      Narrator Catherine Ho's calm narration portrays main character Isoka to perfection. Isoka is cold, calculating, and completely ruthless. Yet as the story becomes more dynamic, so does Isoka, and Ho's performance follows suit. Her tough exterior starts to crack, and beautiful, deep emotion begins to shine through. This YA fantasy is a grungy tale best suited for older teens and adults.
