Gyre Silvereye rescues his Ghoul friend Elariel from being executed by proposing an alliance with humans by supplying the rebels with Ghoul weapons. The two recruit Sarah and head south to Khirkhaz. Meanwhile, his sister Maya Burningblade, a centarch for the Order, is assigned by Prodominus to go to the Forsaken Coast to locate an archive and find an ancient device, where they are beset by plaguespawn and the Eldest. Gyre and his companions make their way to Khirkhaz and convince the Commune to join his cause of seizing the Spires; Maya leads an attempt to retake the Spires by the Order. During the battle, Gyre and Maya face each other in an emotional confrontation, after which Maya unintentionally unleashes the Corrupter of Ghoul legend. An outstanding adventure with a swiftly paced narrative and fully developed characters who readers come to care about, Blood of the Chosen shows how the power of love can overcome political and racial differences.
