Project New Street • Based on a small part of Birmingham New Street station, this 4mm scale model by JOSEPH LAURENCE was the winning entry in the Modular (16 and over) category of the recent Peco RAIL200 Model Layout Competition.

Whatever happened to ... Hoath Hill • After hearing that a long-admired industrial layout built by 3mm Society stalwart the late Peter Bossom was up for sale, GEOFF HELLIWELL leapt at the chance to ensure it was preserved for posterity.

A Boston Lodge cameo in OO9 • JAMES HILTON describes how he and BEN EVANS captured the character of this well-known Welsh narrow gauge location in a scenic footprint of just 74cm x 24cm. Intended as an interchangeable module within a larger home-based system, or for exhibition display on its own with a pair of add-on ‘fiddle sticks’, this versatile design concept has much to offer modellers who are short on space.

Much more than just trains • For the Love of a Railway is a community project based in Axminster, which was established in 2023 to celebrate the Devon town’s long-lost branch line to Lyme Regis. Now a charity, the organisation’s secretary, Barrie Hedges, explains how recent initiatives are bringing together individuals of all ages.

Through the Railway Room Door Monktonmead • Returning to the hobby after 50 years, GERALD DAVISON chose to adopt Digital Command Control and sound for this celebration of the London Midland & Scottish Railway in OO.

Modelling the ‘Coronation Scot’ in TT:120 • Sir William Stanier’s streamlined Coronation Pacifics represented the pinnacle of 1930s express passenger motive power on the London Midland & Scottish Railway. To mark 150 years since the birth of this celebrated Chief Mechanical Engineer, GARRY HALL describes how he re-created one of these locomotives in TT:120, together with a rake of matching ‘Coronation Scot’ coaches.
